Graduate Psychology Assistant – ASC & SEMH School

About the role
This full‑time position supports pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist school setting. You will work in small groups of up to five children, applying psychology knowledge to help them manage emotions, develop social skills and engage with learning.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored, small‑group interventions focused on emotional regulation and behaviour support.
- Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists and mental‑health teams to implement individual care plans.
- Maintain a calm, sensory‑friendly environment that promotes safety and learning.
- Observe and record pupil progress, identifying triggers and adjusting strategies as needed.
Required profile
- Degree in Psychology or a closely related social science.
- Strong motivation to support children with neurodiverse and emotional challenges.
- Patience, resilience and excellent interpersonal communication.
- Any voluntary or paid experience in youth work, mentoring, coaching or care is advantageous.
Required skills
- Understanding of neurodiversity, trauma‑informed practice and behavioural support techniques.
