Graduate Research Assistant – B Cell Biology Group

About the role
We are seeking an ambitious researcher to join Dr Oliver Bannard’s B Cell Biology Group at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. The successful candidate will lead a 12‑month project investigating how antibody‑mediated immunity develops after immunisation and during infection.
Key responsibilities
- Design, execute and manage an independent research project on germinal‑centre biology.
- Maintain laboratory records, order reagents and oversee day‑to‑day administrative tasks.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to research students as needed.
- Present findings at conferences, prepare manuscripts and represent the group at internal meetings.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology or a closely related discipline.
- Specialist knowledge of B‑cell biology, adaptive immunity or macrophage biology.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage research timelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Required skills
- Cryo‑sectioning of tissue samples.
- Confocal microscopy.
- Deep tissue imaging techniques.
- Standard immunology laboratory methods.
