Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

This full‑time, temporary position starts in September 2026 at a high‑achieving secondary school in Northwood. It is designed for recent graduates who want hands‑on classroom experience before pursuing teacher training or a career in education.

Key responsibilities

• Support students in Key Stages 3 and 4 across a variety of subjects.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions to boost progress and confidence.
• Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom activities and material organisation.
• Provide pastoral and academic support to pupils, including those with SEND where appropriate.
• Encourage positive behaviour, monitor progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Help students with coursework, revision and exam preparation.
• Participate in enrichment activities and school events as needed.

Required profile

• A degree in any discipline.
• Strong interest in a teaching or education‑related career.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Positive, proactive and adaptable attitude.
• Confidence working with young people in a classroom setting.

Required skills

• Ability to build constructive relationships with students and staff.
• Basic organisational skills for supporting lesson delivery.
