Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Lambeth)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Lambeth from September 2026. The role offers hands‑on classroom experience across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on inclusive learning and support for pupils with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general classroom assistance to teachers during lessons.
• Deliver small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions in literacy, numeracy and phonics.
• Support pupils with special educational needs both inside and outside the classroom.
• Help create engaging, inclusive learning activities.
• Assist with monitoring pupil progress and reporting to teachers.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or final‑year student interested in a teaching career.
• Enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about supporting children’s development.
• Experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, childcare or volunteering.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of literacy, numeracy and phonics teaching strategies.
• Understanding of SEN provision and inclusive classroom practices.
