Grants Officer – Housing Adaptations

About the role

We are seeking an organised, customer‑focused Grants Officer to join our Adult Adaptations team. You will play a key part in helping disabled and vulnerable adults remain safe and independent at home by managing Disabled Facilities Grants and other housing adaptation funding.

Key responsibilities

• Process applications for Disabled Facilities Grants and related adaptation grants.
• Assess eligibility against legislation, policies and procedures.
• Liaise with applicants, families, occupational therapists, surveyors, contractors and partner agencies throughout the adaptation process.
• Calculate grant entitlements, prepare approvals and ensure compliance with financial and legal requirements.
• Monitor grant expenditure, maintain accurate case and financial records, and verify documentation before payment.
• Provide advice to residents on funding options and support timely delivery of adaptations.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while managing a varied caseload.

Required profile

• Experience administering grants, financial assistance or casework in housing, local government or social care.
• Excellent organisational ability and capacity to manage multiple cases and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret legislation, policies and procedures.
• Effective communication and customer‑service skills.
• Experience handling confidential information and keeping accurate records.
