Green Space and Cleansing Operative – City & Street Cleaner

About the role

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of Exeter City Council for Green Space and Cleansing Operatives. You will work outdoors across Exeter, keeping public spaces clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and empty litter bins and remove litter from streets and public areas.
• Clean public facilities such as car parks and public toilets.
• Remove small graffiti, fly‑posting and report larger vandalism.
• Trim or remove weeds in parks, roadside verges and other green spaces.
• Carry out basic inspections, report maintenance issues, fly‑tipping and damaged street furniture.
• Complete required paperwork and inspection records.
• Follow all health, safety and Exeter City Council procedures.

Required profile

• Reliable, punctual and physically fit for outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with shift patterns, including weekend availability.
• Hold a full, clean manual UK driving licence.

Required skills
