Grounds Maintenance Operative – Full‑time (39h)

About the role

We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our St Helens team. You will work across Lancashire delivering gardening, grounds upkeep and basic repairs while providing advice to residents, colleagues and clients. The role is full‑time (39 hours per week) and field‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out tree work, gardening, lawn care and general grounds maintenance.
• Perform minor repairs and ensure safe working practices at all times.
• Locate properties and schedule visits independently.
• Organise and manage gardening schedules efficiently.
• Document all work completed accurately and promptly.
• Communicate with internal office staff, managers and external stakeholders.
• Undertake additional duties as directed by the line manager.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in horticulture or landscape maintenance.
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols and safe equipment use.
• Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Ability to keep accurate records of work performed.
• Experience interacting with the public on a regular basis.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Operation of lawn mowers.
• Use of strimmers and hedge trimmers.
• Chainsaw handling.
• Wood chipper operation.
• Proficiency with a range of hand tools.
