Grounds Maintenance Operative – Part‑time (Temporary)

About the role

This part‑time, temporary position supports the estate’s upkeep in the Plymouth area. You will keep communal areas clean, maintain outdoor spaces and help prepare vacant flats for re‑let, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general cleaning and maintenance tasks according to seasonal plans, including stairwell cleaning, pressure washing and grass cutting.
• Prepare vacant flats for re‑let by performing redecorations and thorough cleaning.
• Maintain the workshop and stores in an orderly condition, ensuring tools and machinery are safely stored and stock levels are recorded.
• Work within health and safety procedures, reporting any concerns to the estate office.
• Assist with any other reasonable duties related to the post.

Required profile

• Recent experience in cleaning and general maintenance tasks.
• Ability to climb several flights of stairs and lift/heavy items safely.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to follow health and safety guidance and report hazards.
• Desirable: completed health & safety training.

Required skills

• Health & safety awareness, including risk assessments and COSHH.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Basic tool and equipment handling.
