Groundsman – Private Estate (Live‑In/Live‑Out)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Groundsman to join a prestigious private family estate in Somerset. The role involves maintaining 25 acres of formal gardens and grounds within a 320‑acre property, with the option of live‑in accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming and general grounds upkeep.
• Maintaining formal gardens, lawns and landscaped areas to high standards.
• Operating, servicing and maintaining a range of grounds‑maintenance machinery.
• Carrying out estate repairs, handyman tasks and fence/gate maintenance.
• Seasonal duties such as leaf clearance, vegetation management and animal care.
• Feeding and looking after estate animals (goats, pigs, chickens) and monitoring their welfare.
• Supporting wider estate projects as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in grounds, landscaping or estate maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Reliable, trustworthy and professional attitude with strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail and practical DIY skills.

• Operation and maintenance of grounds‑maintenance equipment.
• Basic animal care and welfare monitoring.
