Group Accountant

About the role

The Group Accountant will manage financial reporting and consolidation for a transport and distribution business based in West Sussex. You will ensure accurate records, support decision‑making and work within a hybrid model.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare consolidated financial statements and group reports.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Collaborate with other departments on budgeting and forecasting.
• Review and maintain internal controls to protect assets.
• Assist auditors by providing documentation and explanations.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
• Support the finance team with ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, especially in financial reporting and consolidation.
• Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the transport and distribution sector.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working model.

What we offer

• Salary between £60,000 and £70,000, dependent on experience.
