Group Financial Accountant

About the role

The Group Financial Accountant will own external reporting, statutory accounts and regulatory compliance for a multi‑entity group. Working closely with senior finance leadership, you will ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial statements while leading a high‑performing finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and first‑stage review of statutory accounts across multiple entities.
• Support production of consolidated management and statutory financial statements.
• Manage the year‑end external audit process and act as primary contact for auditors.
• Oversee VAT return preparation and submission, maintaining relationships with HMRC and external advisors.
• Coordinate quarterly and annual regulatory reporting requirements.
• Work with external tax advisers to ensure accurate corporation tax reporting.
• Provide technical accounting advice, ensure compliance with current standards and educate the finance team on new developments.
• Drive process improvements, strengthen financial controls and enhance reporting efficiency.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Financial Accountants and Assistant Financial Accountants.

Required profile

• Experienced technical accountant with a strong background in financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Proven leadership ability to manage and develop a finance team.
• Excellent communication skills to act as a trusted advisor across the finance function.
• Based in Dorset or Hampshire to support hybrid working arrangements.
