Group Financial Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a large‑scale UK business that operates across multiple sites and is backed by significant investment. The Group Financial Controller role is a high‑visibility, senior position reporting to the Group Financial Controller and acting as a deputy, responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the group’s financial control environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own and continuously enhance the Group financial control framework, ensuring robustness and scalability.
• Serve as the technical accounting lead, with a focus on IFRS standards and complex accounting issues.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team of approximately six members.
• Manage and coordinate the external audit process, ensuring efficient delivery and resolution of findings.
• Drive improvements across financial reporting, controls and wider finance processes.
• Support the evolution of a best‑in‑class finance function aligned to a growing, multi‑site business.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant – ideally ACA or ACCA – with a strong technical grounding.
• Deep understanding of IFRS and technical accounting, able to interpret and apply standards in a commercial environment.
• Background in financial control within a fast‑paced, commercially driven organisation.
• Proven leadership ability with experience developing and influencing others.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence to operate at senior levels.
• Ambitious, driven and motivated to progress into broader finance leadership roles.

• Salary range £80,000 – £100,000 per year plus bonus and benefits.
