Group Financial Controller

About the role

A well-established, growing service-sector group headquartered in Manchester, made up of several trading entities, is looking for a Group Financial Controller. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will lead the group finance team and own the financial control environment across the group in a hands-on role, running month-end, consolidation and statutory reporting and taking part in planning and performance discussions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead group month-end and year-end close, including consolidation and intercompany reconciliations, and produce accurate, timely management accounts
• Own the group and subsidiary statutory accounts and manage the external audit from start to finish
• Run the annual group budget and reforecasts, with variance analysis that drives decisions
• Manage group cash flow, working capital and banking relationships
• Ensure financial controls, processes and policies are robust and consistent across all entities
• Oversee VAT, corporation tax and other compliance, working with external advisors
• Lead, develop and motivate the group finance team
• Partner with operational leaders to give clear commercial insight on performance and profitability
• Drive process improvement and get the most out of finance systems

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Proven experience as a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller or senior Finance Manager in a multi-entity business
• Experience in Financial Services or Property is essential
• Track record of delivering statutory accounts and audits
• Experience leading and developing a finance team
• Commercial mindset, confident challenging and influencing senior stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including group consolidations
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems

What we offer

• Salary of £85,000 to £100,000 depending on experience
• Hybrid working, 2 days a week in the Manchester office
