Group Financial Controller – Senior Finance Leader

About the role

This senior, high‑profile finance position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with the Leadership Team and Board. Based in London (2‑3 days on‑site per week), the Group Financial Controller will strengthen financial control, improve reporting quality and drive automation as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Own and enhance the financial control environment, ensuring robust governance and compliance.
• Lead external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers and other external stakeholders.
• Maintain balance‑sheet integrity, cash management and working‑capital discipline.
• Take full ownership of month‑end close, delivering accurate management accounts and insightful variance analysis.
• Drive reporting efficiency and scalability through automation, system development and process improvement.
• Prepare Leadership Team and Board reporting packs with clear financial and operational insight.
• Support strategic decisions with scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis and investment appraisal.
• Partner with senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions and ensure performance accountability.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or similar senior finance leader.
• Strong background in financial control, statutory reporting and governance.
• Track record of improving financial processes, controls and reporting in a fast‑growing environment.
• Experience driving automation, systems enhancements and finance transformation.
• Commercial acumen with ability to influence stakeholders and translate data into actionable insight.
• Experience supporting Board reporting, budgeting, forecasting and business planning.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor finance teams.
• Exposure to investor reporting, private‑equity‑backed businesses or fintech is highly advantageous.
