Group Internal Auditor

About the role

The Group Internal Auditor will support SSE’s strategic objectives by delivering high‑quality assurance and advisory services across the business. Working primarily from Glasgow or Perth, you will manage audits from planning through to reporting, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and scoping activities for audits assigned from the Group Internal Audit Plan.
• Execute audit fieldwork in line with SSE Internal Audit Methodology and recognised professional standards.
• Evaluate audit results, define findings, and assess risk implications for the business.
• Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the audit lifecycle, communicating progress and outcomes effectively.
• Provide insight and analysis to support risk management and identify efficiency opportunities.

Required profile

• Part or full accountancy/audit qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience in a relevant audit or assurance role.
• Ability to quickly understand and evaluate complex business processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including audit report preparation.
• Proven ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
