Group Operational Finance Manager

About the role

Axis CLC is seeking an experienced Group Operational Finance Manager to join its Group Finance team at the Head Office in Stratford, East London. The role is hybrid and involves regular travel to Southampton to support finance activities across the wider group.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day performance of transactional finance teams covering Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Credit Control, Payroll, Treasury, Subcontractor Ledger and Transactional Tax.
• Ensure accurate, timely and compliant processing, meeting KPIs, SLAs and control standards.
• Support group cash‑flow forecasting and drive improvements in debtor days, aged debt reduction and supplier payment controls.
• Maintain compliance with VAT, CIS, payroll legislation and internal control frameworks, supporting audit requirements.
• Implement scalable shared‑service models, standardised processes and performance dashboards.
• Lead process improvements, workflow automation and systems optimisation initiatives.
• Contribute to the Group ERP transformation programme (Building Futures) through process mapping, testing, data migration and go‑live readiness.
• Produce KPI reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
• Manage, coach and develop operational finance team leaders and managers.
• Support integration of new businesses into Group systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large transactional finance functions in a multi‑site environment.
• Strong understanding of cash‑flow management, credit control and supplier payment processes.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure regulatory compliance (VAT, CIS, payroll) and support audit activities.
• Experience with shared‑service models, process standardisation and performance reporting.
• Ability to manage change programmes, including ERP transformations.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder‑management skills.
