Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Algorithms Engineer

About the role

Astroscale UK is looking for a technically strong Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Algorithms Engineer to join its UK‑based GNC Algorithm and Simulation team. You will design, develop, verify and deploy GNC algorithms and software that enable rendezvous and proximity operations for on‑orbit servicing and active debris removal missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and test GNC algorithms for Astroscale missions.
• Create and maintain high‑fidelity GNC simulation environments, including spacecraft hardware models and orbital/attitude dynamics.
• Contribute to the design and testing of GNC flight software.
• Support hardware trade‑off analysis focused on Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO) technologies.
• Integrate GNC software on Astroscale satellite platforms.
• Participate in system‑level activities such as FMECA and FDIR definition.
• Define verification strategies, test plans and procedures, and execute subsystem‑level V&V activities.
• Collaborate with systems, computer vision, flight dynamics and other engineering disciplines.

Required profile

• Degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related engineering/science discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial experience in GNC algorithm development and deployment.
• Experience in the space industry with practical knowledge of GNC concepts.
