Handyperson – FM Maintenance – Worcester

About the role

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Handyperson to join its Facilities Management segment at the Heart of Worcester College. The role is full‑time (40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday) and requires an enhanced DBS check and a full driving licence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the building fabric, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Perform ceiling repairs, painting, skirting and facing replacement, door servicing and other general repairs.
• Identify and order spare parts through the appropriate channels.
• Conduct landscape maintenance, litter picking and building fabric inspections.
• Carry out weekly/monthly legionella temperature checks and flush unused outlets.
• Liaise with and supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with method statements and risk assessments.
• Monitor and order stock for maintenance items.
• Read and interpret contract documentation, as‑built drawings, schedules and specifications.
• Undertake porterage duties and support health‑and‑safety responsibilities.
• Operate heating plant, fire alarm and lighting systems, and record utility meter readings.

Required profile

• Experience as a Building Fabric or Multi‑skilled Engineer in a busy service environment.
• Recognised trade qualification or substantial on‑the‑job experience.
• Training in General Health & Safety Regulations, risk assessments and method statements.
• Self‑motivated, reliable and able to identify defects without direction.
• Full driving licence.
• Basic plumbing, mechanical and electrical knowledge is advantageous.
