Hardware Design Engineer – Rochester, Kent

About the role

Our client, an established electronics manufacturing firm in Rochester, is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team. The position is permanent and requires four days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Execute complex hardware design tasks in line with the development plan, meeting timescales and budgets.
• Capture hardware requirements, produce preliminary and detailed designs, and perform necessary analyses.
• Introduce innovative design approaches and identify improvements to working practices.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to optimise solutions and minimise dependency impacts.
• Provide technical guidance for digital and analogue electronics solutions.
• Coach and develop junior team members.
• Deliver design artefacts that comply with company and industry standards.

Required profile

• Degree or HND in electronics engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience with digital and/or analogue electronics technologies.
• Hands‑on experience across the full engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certification.
• Strong understanding of cost and schedule constraints and ability to apply robust engineering judgement.
• Solid grasp of product design and work‑package control.
