Head Chef – Care Home

About the role

The Head Chef will take full ownership of the kitchen at Windmill Lodge Care Home, delivering high‑quality, nutritious meals for residents. You will lead the team, ensure food safety, and create a pleasant dining experience while maintaining a balanced work schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus that meet dietary requirements and nutritional standards.
• Prepare and present meals using fresh ingredients.
• Manage stock, ordering, and budgeting to control costs and minimise waste.
• Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
• Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to achieve high performance.
• Monitor kitchen performance, quality, and health & safety.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading or managing a kitchen.
• Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
• Good understanding of dietary needs and food safety.
• Reliable, proactive and quality‑focused.

Required skills

• City & Guilds 706/1 certification (or equivalent).
• City & Guilds 706/2 certification (or equivalent).
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Food safety knowledge.
