Head Chef (Care Home)

About the role

As Head Chef at a purpose‑built care home on the woodland edge of Forres, you will own the kitchen and lead a team to deliver high‑quality, nutritious meals for 41 residents. The role combines culinary leadership with a focus on dietary needs, food safety and cost‑effective operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus and prepare meals that meet individual dietary requirements and nutritional standards.
• Manage stock, ordering and budgets, minimising waste while maintaining quality.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of presentation.
• Lead, train and develop kitchen staff to create a motivated, high‑performing team.
• Oversee kitchen hygiene, conduct regular checks and maintain records.

Required profile

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent, or working towards a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Proven experience leading or managing a kitchen.
• Strong leadership and organisational abilities.
• Good understanding of dietary requirements and food safety.
• Proactive, reliable and quality‑focused approach.
