Head Chef – Fixed‑Term (Maternity Cover)

About the role

Hallmark Care Homes is seeking an experienced Head Chef to cover a maternity leave on a fixed‑term basis. You will lead the kitchen team in delivering hotel‑standard meals for residents, using fresh, seasonal produce while maintaining the highest standards of nutrition and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and tailor resident‑focused menus that meet dietary requirements and personal preferences.
• Prepare high‑quality, wholesome dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
• Lead, motivate and develop a team of culinary professionals.
• Manage food budgets, control costs and minimise waste.
• Conduct regular audits, oversee stock control and ensure compliance with HACCP standards.

Required profile

• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts.
• Proven experience in leading a kitchen team.
• Strong understanding of nutrition and dietary needs for care‑home residents.
• Ability to work autonomously and maintain high standards under budget constraints.

Required skills

• HACCP knowledge and implementation.
