Head Chef – Gastro Pub (Harlow)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen of a popular gastro pub on the outskirts of Harlow. This full‑time position offers the chance to own the menu, work with fresh, locally sourced produce, and shape the culinary experience in a newly refurbished venue.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and continuously refresh the menu.
• Manage food costs, gross profit targets and overall kitchen budgets.
• Oversee ordering, stock control and supplier relationships.
• Lead, train and develop a small kitchen brigade.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Run day‑to‑day kitchen operations and support events and functions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Head Chef.
• Background in fresh‑food restaurants, gastro pubs or similar establishments.
• Passion for quality, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
• Hands‑on leadership style with a focus on high standards.
• Full UK driving licence and own vehicle for commuting.
