Head Housekeeper – Luxury Care Home

About the role

The Head Housekeeper will lead the housekeeping team at Penrose Care Home, a private luxury care facility for up to 65 residents in Biggleswade. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment across resident rooms, bathrooms and communal areas.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily cleaning operations and ensure all areas meet high hygiene and presentation standards.
• Manage, coach and schedule the housekeeping staff, allocating tasks and monitoring performance.
• Coordinate with other departments to align housekeeping activities with infection‑control, health‑and‑safety and overall service requirements.
• Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies, order materials and ensure proper use of equipment.
• Conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective actions where needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a housekeeping or supervisory role, preferably within a care or hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of cleaning standards, hygiene and infection‑control procedures.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health‑and‑safety regulations related to cleaning.
• Familiarity with infection‑control protocols.
• Ability to manage supplies and inventory.
