Head of Accounts Payable

About the role

This senior position leads the Accounts Payable function for a growing finance team. You will own day‑to‑day operations, ensure accurate invoice processing and payments, and drive continuous improvement across the function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a medium‑sized Accounts Payable team, providing coaching, support and performance management.
• Oversee the full AP process, including invoice processing, supplier payments and query resolution.
• Ensure payments are accurate, timely and compliant with internal controls and company policy.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and act as the escalation point for issues.
• Review and improve AP processes to increase efficiency, accuracy and best practice.
• Support month‑end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations where required.
• Collaborate with the wider finance team on reporting, cash management and operational priorities.
• Monitor KPIs and ensure service levels are consistently met.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Accounts Payable leadership or senior AP management.
• Strong understanding of transactional finance processes and controls.
• Experience managing or mentoring a small team.
• Confident communicator with stakeholder and supplier relationship skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
