Head of Data

About the role

This senior leadership position will shape and scale the data function for a fast‑growing organisation in Berkshire. You will work closely with executive leadership to define strategy, build capability and drive commercial impact through data.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver the enterprise data strategy aligned to commercial objectives and growth ambitions.
• Act as a key advisor to senior stakeholders, influencing how data is leveraged as a competitive advantage.
• Build, lead and develop a multi‑disciplinary team across analytics, data science and business intelligence.
• Drive the evolution from reporting towards predictive and commercially focused insight.
• Establish and scale self‑service analytics capabilities across the business.
• Lead the application of advanced analytics, machine learning and AI to pricing and performance optimisation.
• Partner closely with technology teams to ensure scalable, reliable data platforms and strong data architecture.
• Own and embed data governance frameworks, improving data quality, consistency and trust.
• Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong experience leading data, analytics or data science functions in a commercial environment.
• Proven ability to build and scale high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise across data analytics, machine learning and business intelligence with a solid technical foundation.
• Experience delivering data‑driven transformation, including self‑service analytics and advanced insight capabilities.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate data strategy into measurable business outcomes.
• Confident stakeholder management with experience influencing senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience working within data governance frameworks and regulated environments (advantageous).
• Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on involvement when required.
