Head of Data Product Commercialisation

About the role

Working for the Registers of Scotland, the Head of Data Product Commercialisation will define and execute the roadmap for customer data products and licensing, aligning with the organisation’s commercial strategy and innovation goals. The role combines product leadership, commercial insight and stakeholder coordination to drive growth and responsible data use.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data licensing reviews and implement improvements across the organisation.
• Develop and manage a roadmap for data products, licensing and commercial opportunities, aligned with business and customer priorities.
• Identify and simplify licensing models to support growth, customer needs and responsible data use.
• Provide expert advice on bringing new and existing data products to market.
• Oversee client account management, customer relationships, account plans and commercial opportunities.
• Manage the data licensing and strategy budget, supplier relationships and contracts.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver priorities, manage risks and resolve issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing and managing data products and services, with a strong understanding of data licensing and contracts.
• Commercial and financial awareness, balancing customer needs, risk, budgets and value for money.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills.
• Experience working with public sector or regulated data, including governance and transparency requirements.

• Salary £62,144 – £77,232 per year.
