Head of Design and Architecture

About the role

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Design and Architecture to join our Technology Leadership Team. Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will shape the charity’s digital and technology architecture vision, ensuring solutions are modern, secure, scalable and aligned with organisational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Technical Design Authority (TDA), chair governance forums and enforce enterprise architecture principles.
• Define and maintain an enterprise‑wide architecture vision that supports a future‑ready technology ecosystem.
• Oversee solution designs, both internal and third‑party, guaranteeing security, scalability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the Technology Director to create and maintain the technology roadmap, setting direction for platforms, tooling, integrations and modernisation.
• Mentor and develop architects and design specialists, embedding high standards of delivery and architectural excellence.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in technology architecture or design.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to align technology initiatives to business objectives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across digital, data and technology teams.
• Experience leading and developing high‑performing technical teams.

• £75,000‑£80,000 salary (inclusive of London supplement).
