Head of Education & Development and Education Lead – London

About the role

The Royal College of Surgeons of England is seeking senior education professionals to lead and develop its national education portfolio. Two senior positions are available – a Head of Education & Development, responsible for system‑wide strategy and integration, and an Education Lead, who will own programme delivery, curriculum and assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a unified education strategy aligned with workforce needs.
• Oversee quality assurance, curriculum design and performance measurement across all education programmes.
• Lead cross‑functional teams of clinicians, faculty and senior stakeholders.
• Drive integration of education, training and workforce activities into a cohesive model.
• Manage delivery of core education programmes, ensuring consistency and scalability.
• Represent the College’s education function at national and international forums.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in education, training or professional development, preferably within the health sector.
• Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment frameworks and quality assurance.
• Experience working with clinicians, academic faculty and senior organisational stakeholders.
• Ability to influence policy and practice at a national level.
