About the role

The Tees Valley Wildlife Trust is seeking a passionate and forward‑thinking Head of Education & Learning to lead and develop an inspiring environmental education programme across the Tees Valley. This senior role will shape the Trust’s vision of connecting people with nature and inspire schools, young people and communities to value and protect the natural world.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and continuously improve a high‑quality programme of learning and youth engagement, both on‑site and through outreach.
• Create accessible, hands‑on learning experiences for school‑aged children and learners of all ages.
• Lead work with schools, young people and NEET groups, ensuring programmes are inclusive and responsive to community needs.
• Identify, secure and manage funding opportunities and strategic partnerships to generate income.
• Support the practical delivery of projects and activities, overseeing budgets and resources.
• Contribute to the Senior Management Team, influencing organisational strategy, planning and performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior leadership within education, environmental education or a related sector.
• Demonstrated passion for youth engagement, nature‑based learning and community outreach.
• Strong track record of securing funding and developing strategic partnerships.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including schools, charities and local authorities.

• Annual salary of £42,000.
• 28 days holiday plus bank holidays.
• Full‑time permanent contract.
