Head of Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (HSEQ)

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to head our Environment, Safety, Health & Quality (HSEQ) function across multiple nuclear sites in the UK. Reporting to the Director of ESH&Q, you will shape culture, drive excellence and ensure compliance with the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the ESH&Q team, embedding a proactive safety and quality culture.
• Define and deliver the company’s ESH&Q strategy aligned with business objectives and client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with legislation and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Provide assurance through audits, inspections, investigations and performance monitoring.
• Act as senior ESH&Q advisor to the Board, leadership team, clients and regulators.
• Drive behavioural safety, operational discipline and organisational learning.
• Lead risk management, emergency preparedness and incident investigations.
• Oversee quality assurance, supplier assurance and continuous improvement programmes.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in HSEQ, preferably within the nuclear or high‑hazard sector.
• Eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with clients, regulators and internal teams.
