Head of External Reporting

About the role

The Head of External Reporting will lead Cygnet Group’s external financial reporting function, ensuring accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and statutory accounts across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Tax and Corporate Reporting, this hybrid role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on technical accounting leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Own preparation of annual financial statements for all 52 group entities.
• Oversee the consolidation process, including journal entries, inter‑company eliminations and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure correct accounting treatment for acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and foreign‑currency transactions.
• Prepare and file statutory accounts in line with UK and Irish accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review disclosures and complex transaction accounting treatments.
• Coordinate year‑end reporting timetables and manage delivery against tight deadlines.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to the wider finance team.
• Maintain compliance for Irish subsidiaries, including statutory filing.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with extensive technical accounting expertise.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior reporting or consolidation role.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Track record of delivering accurate results under tight deadlines.
