Head of Family Law – Senior Family Solicitor

About the role

This is a senior leadership opportunity to head a well‑established Family Law department within a respected private practice in Wokingham. You will have autonomy to shape strategy, manage a high‑quality caseload and develop a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Family Law team, overseeing performance, supervision and development.
• Handle a diverse caseload including divorce, financial remedy, private children work, cohabitation disputes, TOLATA claims and pre‑/post‑nuptial agreements.
• Develop and implement a departmental growth strategy and business‑development plan.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and referral networks.
• Support fee earners with technical expertise on complex cases.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with strong family law experience.
• 5+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) at senior level.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated track record in business development and client acquisition.
• Excellent communication and team‑leadership abilities.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of family law matters (divorce, financial remedy, children, cohabitation, TOLATA, pre‑/post‑nuptial agreements).
• Ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
• Strategic thinking and commercial awareness.
