Head of Finance

About the role

Our client, a well‑established and rapidly growing business in Plymouth, is seeking a proactive Head of Finance to join the senior leadership team on a permanent, full‑time basis. You will own the finance function, driving accurate reporting, robust systems and commercial insight to ensure finance is central to strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small finance team, maintaining strong controls and best practice.
• Oversee daily finance operations and accounting processes.
• Produce accurate and timely monthly management reports.
• Drive improvements in systems, processes and financial efficiency.
• Deliver insightful MI, KPI reporting and commercial analysis.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting and working capital planning.
• Provide financial insight to support strategic business decisions.
• Partner with senior leadership to improve performance and growth.
• Manage external relationships for audit, tax and compliance matters.

Required profile

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Confident, hands‑on finance leader able to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
• Experience in a multi‑site or product‑led environment is advantageous.
• Commercially driven with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced SME.
