Head of Fine Art & Specie

About the role

We are seeking a senior Fine Art & Specie underwriter to launch and lead a new underwriting practice for a well‑capitalised specialty insurance platform. This is a build‑out opportunity, not a replacement, allowing you to shape product strategy, appetite and capacity for high‑value asset classes.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and grow a dedicated Fine Art, Specie, precious metals, cash and other high‑value asset underwriting portfolio.
• Define underwriting appetite, pricing models and capacity relationships with reinsurers and capital partners.
• Develop product strategy and market positioning for the new practice.
• Lead recruitment, mentoring and performance management of the underwriting team.
• Collaborate with senior leadership on growth targets and investment decisions.

Required profile

• Recognised leader in fine‑art or high‑value asset underwriting, either currently heading a successful operation or positioned as a natural successor.
• Proven track record of building or scaling underwriting practices within specialty insurance.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for ownership and long‑term growth.
• Strong network with insurers, reinsurers and capital providers in the specialty market.

Required skills

• Underwriting expertise in fine art, specie, precious metals, cash or comparable high‑value assets.
• Strategic product development and pricing acumen.
• Leadership and team‑building capabilities.
