Head of Forward Deployed Engineering EMEA

Atlassian is looking for a Head of Forward Deployed Engineering EMEA, a high-visibility, high-impact role focused on applied AI. The team works directly with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered solutions, partnering with organizations across industries to use Atlassian's AI capabilities. Key responsibilities

• Hire, onboard and retain top talent and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration and excellence.
• Mentor and coach engineers on AI/ML solution design, code quality, scalable architecture, testing, debugging and documentation.
• Analyze complex datasets to extract insights and inform product direction.
• Champion AI-augmented workflow automation in customer environments.
• Oversee end-to-end deployment of AI solutions into production, with continuous evaluation and improvement.
• Navigate risk and compliance, including AI risk assessment, data privacy (GDPR) and regulatory frameworks.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and align solutions with business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience managing software engineering teams at scale.
• Experience delivering AI/ML solutions in production, including as a founding or forward-deployed engineer in 0-to-1 products.
• Experience with AI risk assessment, data privacy and compliance (e.g. GDPR).
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority and to solve complex, ambiguous problems.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in applied AI/ML, including generative AI, LLMs and agent-based frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript or similar languages, with experience with APIs, microservices and enterprise integration.
• Preferred: experience with Atlassian Intelligence, Rovo AI or AI-powered Atlassian features; regulated industries such as finance or healthcare; mentoring or leading engineering teams.
