Head of Housekeeping – Care Home

About the role

As Head of Housekeeping at a Barchester care home, you will create warm, homely environments that support high‑quality care. You will lead a team of housekeeping staff while also taking a hands‑on approach to daily cleaning tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and supervise the housekeeping team.
• Participate directly in day‑to‑day cleaning of rooms and communal areas.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the home.
• Ensure consistent application of cleaning protocols and health‑safety regulations.
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and manage inventory.

Required profile

• Previous housekeeping experience in a care home, hospital or hotel setting.
• Proven ability to lead, inspire and develop a team.
• Strong communication skills and a caring, resident‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to work alongside staff on cleaning duties.
