Head of Infrastructure Portfolio

About the role

We are seeking a senior portfolio leader to own a major technology infrastructure change agenda for a global banking group. Reporting directly to senior technology and Head Office stakeholders, you will shape delivery, influence executive decisions and drive large‑scale change.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct and govern the end‑to‑end Infrastructure investment portfolio, owning the delivery roadmap, critical path and prioritisation.
• Manage delegated authority from senior Head Office stakeholders, reporting to EMEA ExCo, Delivery Forum and portfolio committees.
• Own portfolio governance including budget, scope, benefits, timeline, change approval, risk/issue management, business case sign‑off and project closure.
• Lead, recruit and develop a team of around 13 consultants/contractors and matrix‑manage wider delivery staff.
• Control investment budgets, cost forecasting and financial reporting, ensuring golden‑source data for oversight committees.
• Set quality standards, ensure compliance with project delivery policy, SOX and regulatory requirements.
• Manage vendors, consultants and procurement to deliver cost‑effective solutions.
• Oversee major transformation programmes such as data‑centre migration, network transformation, cloud migration and end‑user compute modernisation (VDI, Microsoft 365, Windows/OS migration, endpoint deployment, Exchange upgrades).

Required profile

• 10‑15+ years of proven experience delivering programmes and projects in financial services or comparable large‑scale technology/infrastructure organisations.
• Strong governance, stakeholder engagement and executive‑level communication skills.
• Ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage multi‑million‑pound investment portfolios.
