Head of IT

About the role

The school is entering a new phase of digital transformation and needs a strategic leader to drive its IT agenda. Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will own the entire IT function, from strategy and infrastructure to day‑to‑day service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the school’s IT strategy, overseeing the migration to a modern cloud‑based platform.
• Lead, recruit, and develop the IT team, providing day‑to‑day direction and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, data protection, and security standards.
• Manage the IT budget, supplier contracts, and procurement processes.
• Define and enforce cybersecurity policies, including disaster‑recovery planning.
• Support digital teaching and learning, collaborating closely with academic staff.
• Provide hands‑on technical support to staff and students of varying digital proficiency.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience in a school or similarly regulated environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale cloud migrations and cybersecurity risk.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels, including presenting to senior leadership.
• Ready to take full ownership of an IT department and shape its future direction.
