Head of Lettings (12-month FTC) – Harpenden

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Lettings to lead our Harpenden office on a 12-month fixed-term basis. You will manage a small team, drive business development, and ensure the lettings process delivers an exceptional customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Harpenden lettings team, including a Lettings Negotiator and Coordinator.
• Conduct market appraisals, secure new landlord instructions and grow the portfolio.
• Maintain strong relationships with landlords and key clients.
• Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards.
• Monitor departmental KPIs, profitability and overall business performance.
• Coach, mentor and conduct regular performance reviews for team members.
• Collaborate with internal departments to maximise cross-selling opportunities.
• Represent the business professionally within the local property market.

Required profile

• Proven track record in residential lettings, preferably at a senior or head-of-lettings level.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to drive revenue and market share.
• Excellent relationship-building and client-facing skills.
• Experience managing a small team and delivering performance targets.
• Good knowledge of lettings legislation and compliance requirements.

• Basic salary of £35,000 plus £6,500‑£8,000 car allowance.
• Office profit-share scheme with OTE potential of £70,000+.
