Head of Origination & Relationship Management (Senior Director)

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to head the Origination & Relationship Management function within the British Business Bank. Reporting to the Chief Banking Officer, you will shape the bank’s strategy for SME debt financing, strengthen relationships with lenders and drive product development in line with market needs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute origination and relationship management strategy across bank and non‑bank lenders.
• Collaborate with product and strategy teams to develop and market banking products for the SME sector.
• Represent the Chief Banking Officer in senior forums and champion ESG, CRM and colleague development initiatives.
• Lead a high‑performing team, fostering commercial delivery, collaboration and consistent partner engagement.
• Provide market insight to influence the British Business Bank’s product roadmap and support national SME finance objectives.
• Maintain oversight of debt capital markets and SME securitisation activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in SME finance and relationship management.
• Proven commercial instincts with a track record of influencing product strategy.
• Strong leadership experience, preferably at senior director level.
• Ability to work across multiple locations (London/Sheffield) and engage with clients regularly.
