Head of Project Delivery

About the role

As Head of Project Delivery at Northern Gas Networks you will lead a high‑impact portfolio of technology and business transformation initiatives. You will shape how projects are planned, governed and delivered, ensuring they create real value for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Project Managers, driving performance and succession planning.
• Establish consistent delivery standards for planning, reporting, RAID management, financial control and benefits tracking.
• Own portfolio governance, including stage‑gate reviews, steering committees and data‑driven decision making.
• Provide executive reporting, options analysis and escalation of key risks such as cyber, regulatory and safety.
• Partner with Commercial Services on supplier performance, sourcing and contract outcomes.
• Oversee service transition to ensure smooth hand‑over with appropriate support models and documentation.
• Shape annual portfolio road‑maps and prioritisation aligned with NGN strategy and regulatory milestones.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning and psychological safety.

Required profile

• Proven people leader with strong coaching and development capabilities.
• Significant experience leading complex IT and business change programmes.
• Commercial awareness and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence.

What we offer

• Salary £72,683 per year plus up to 15% bonus.
• Permanent contract, 40‑hour week.
• Hybrid working – based at our Thorpe Park, Leeds office (or Doxford Park, Sunderland).
