Head of Protection

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious, commercially‑minded Head of Protection to lead the development of a new protection function within a fast‑growing financial services group. You will work closely with senior leadership, shaping strategy and delivering expert advice to a portfolio of corporate and private clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on personal and business protection solutions, including key person, shareholder, executive income, and high‑sum life cover.
• Identify and develop protection opportunities across an existing base of approximately 750 corporate clients.
• Collaborate with Wealth Management, Employee Benefits and Commercial Insurance teams to maximise referrals.
• Establish best‑practice processes, build introducer relationships and, over time, recruit and lead a specialist protection team.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the protection division and drive its growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in protection advisory or a similar financial services role.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to spot and act on protection opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills for advising business owners, directors and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to build a function from the ground up.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of protection products such as key person, shareholder, life policies, executive income and family protection.
• Understanding of trust planning, inheritance tax and high‑sum assured life cover.
