Head of School

About the role

The Head of School will provide strategic and operational leadership for Baston House School, ensuring outstanding education, safeguarding and life‑changing outcomes for every pupil. Working closely with the Options Autism and Outcomes First Group teams, you will shape an ambitious vision and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement across the school.
• Lead the development and delivery of an inclusive, ambitious curriculum.
• Ensure outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and safeguarding standards.
• Build strong partnerships with pupils, families, local authorities and external professionals.
• Develop and manage a high‑performing staff team through coaching and performance management.
• Oversee school improvement planning, self‑evaluation, quality assurance and Ofsted compliance.
• Monitor attendance, behaviour, pupil progress and implement improvement strategies.
• Manage resources and budgets to support commercial success and sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Significant senior leadership experience within education.
• Proven track record of improving educational outcomes and leading successful school improvement.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, SEND, statutory education requirements and Ofsted inspections.
• Exceptional people leadership and team development skills.
• Experience in financial and operational management of a school.
