Head of Tax

About the role

Lotus Cars is seeking a Head of Tax to lead its tax function at the Hethel manufacturing site. The role will shape tax strategy, ensure robust compliance and support the company’s sustainable growth and transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement the Group Tax Strategy, policy and governance framework.
• Establish and maintain tax governance processes, risk matrices and supporting documentation.
• Review and enhance tax controls within accounting and financial systems.
• Prepare and oversee tax accounting disclosures and Group reporting obligations.
• Drive tax planning initiatives while ensuring full compliance with legislation and Group policies.
• Identify and implement tax‑efficient structures to support current and future business activities.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and communicate impact across the business.
• Act as primary contact for HMRC and other tax authorities in all operating regions.
• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all tax returns and submissions.
• Develop and maintain the Group Tax Risk Register and associated controls.
• Map tax responsibilities across the organisation and ensure clear ownership.
• Support the Senior Accounting Officer regime and regulatory compliance.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high‑performing tax team.

Required profile

• Professional accountancy or tax qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
• Significant in‑house corporate tax experience covering Corporation Tax, VAT and Employment Taxes (PAYE).
• Deep understanding of tax compliance, reporting and risk management.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive strategic tax initiatives.
