Head of Tax

About the role

Lotus Cars is seeking a Head of Tax to lead its tax function at the Hethel manufacturing site. This senior position will shape tax strategy, ensure compliance, and support the company’s growth and transformation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement the Group Tax Strategy, Tax Policy and governance framework.
• Establish tax governance processes, risk matrices and supporting documentation.
• Review and enhance tax controls within accounting and financial systems.
• Prepare tax accounting disclosures and oversee Group reporting obligations.
• Drive tax planning initiatives while ensuring full compliance with legislation and Group policies.
• Identify and implement tax‑efficient structures for current and future business activities.
• Monitor tax legislation changes and communicate impact across the business.
• Act as primary contact for HMRC and other tax authorities in all operating regions.
• Maintain the Group Tax Risk Register and ensure clear ownership of tax responsibilities.
• Lead, develop and mentor a high‑performing tax team.

Required profile

• Professional accountancy or tax qualification (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
• Extensive in‑house corporate tax experience covering Corporation Tax, VAT and Employment Taxes (PAYE).
• Deep understanding of tax legislation, compliance and risk management.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership and support strategic decision‑making.
