Head of Technical and Operations (Marine)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Technical & Operations to lead a specialist marine insurance business within the Lloyd's and London market. The role combines operational leadership with deep technical expertise, driving excellence, governance and continuous improvement across broking systems, data management and workflow processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and enhance operational processes, governance frameworks and technical standards.
• Oversee broking platforms, data quality, reporting and management information.
• Support the oversight of Insurance Broking Accounts (IBA) and deliver commercial insight.
• Identify and implement automation, process improvements and system enhancements.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders, internal teams and external technology providers.
• Act as the technical and operational subject‑matter expert across the organisation.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives and change programmes.

Required profile

• Significant experience in insurance operations, technical support or operational management.
• Strong understanding of insurance broking processes and the end‑to‑end placement lifecycle.
• Marine insurance sector knowledge.
• Proven ability to manage broking platforms and deliver system improvements.
• Knowledge of data governance, reporting and operational controls.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Proactive approach to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Experience with broking platforms such as GPM, Acturis, Whitespace, Brokertech, Yellowbox or similar.
