Head of Transformation Strategy

About the role

The Head of Transformation Strategy will lead the design and delivery of a technology‑enabled vision for the future NHS. Working closely with finance, portfolio and policy teams, you will shape a holistic strategy that re‑imagines services through digital, data and improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the overall transformation strategy for the NHS, aligning it with NHS England, DHSC and system priorities.
• Integrate technology, digital, data and improvement levers into the wider NHS England strategy and policy framework.
• Collaborate with external partners, system leaders and patients to co‑create evidence‑based pathway strategies.
• Partner with Finance and Portfolio Office teams to embed the strategy into programme delivery and funding decisions.
• Ensure alignment with related strategy teams (Life Sciences, Innovation, Data) and with broader governmental policies.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in strategy development within complex, public‑sector environments.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills to secure buy‑in across the NHS.
• Ability to work at pace in highly complex settings and translate big‑picture vision into actionable plans.
• Strong collaborative mindset with experience influencing cross‑functional teams.
