Head of Warehouse Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Warehouse Operations to lead a 24‑hour food distribution centre in North London. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for driving performance, safety and customer satisfaction across multiple shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all warehouse activities on a 24‑hour cycle, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee stock integrity, inventory control and product rotation.
• Achieve exceptional pick accuracy and customer service levels.
• Develop and mentor supervisory teams to foster a high‑performance culture.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce costs.
• Manage resource planning, staffing, annual leave and absence.
• Produce operational reports and monitor key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with transport and senior leadership to optimise overall performance.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years in a senior warehouse leadership role.
• Extensive experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or food distribution.
• Proven ability to manage large, multi‑functional teams in fast‑paced environments.
• Strong knowledge of stock management, inventory control and warehouse processes.
• Relevant qualifications such as Level 5 Warehouse & Inventory Management, Food Safety & Hygiene or HACCP (desirable).

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
