Head Physical Training Instructor (Head PTI)

About the role

First Military Recruitment is seeking a Head Physical Training Instructor to lead a high‑performing fitness team at a modern gym in Kings Hill. This senior position is ideal for former British Army PTIs who want to transition their military leadership and instructional expertise into a civilian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver exceptional group training sessions, setting the benchmark for coaching standards.
• Inspire, motivate and develop members to achieve outstanding fitness results.
• Mentor, manage and evaluate the coaching team, ensuring consistently high performance.
• Oversee coach rotas, staffing levels and holiday planning.
• Monitor attendance, member retention and overall customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the sales team to support membership growth.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑maintained facility, including equipment inspections and health‑and‑safety compliance.

Required profile

• Level 3 Personal Training qualification (minimum).
• Former British Army Physical Training Instructor, preferably at Corporal or Sergeant rank.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing teams.
• Strong commitment to discipline, professionalism and high standards.

Required skills

• Leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Ability to design and deliver group fitness programmes.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and gym‑facility standards.
